The Flying Doctor is larger than life, he is life.
Sharon Tasker 1937 – 2016
was indeed the most thoughtful, obliging person and
even though she struggled with her own health issues
she had a passion for the RFDS.
was a sense of pride that Sharon’s interest in the
RFDS began at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital,
Sydney, where she, as a thirteen year old, helped
her Mother, nurse the Rev John Flynn, when on his
death bed, in 1951. ‘Flynn’ of the Outback, had a
vision of a ‘mantle of safety’, for the outback and
isolated areas. From the Australian Inland Mission,
with many stepping stones, to this day, the Royal
Flying Doctor Service.
lovely lady, Sharon, a Member of the RFDS Esperance
Auxiliary leaves us with wonderful memories of
friendship and the many gorgeous decorated cakes she
made for our raffles. It has been a privilege to
have known her.
